Philip Gale is a supramolecular chemist who is known internationally for his work on recognition and lipid bilayer transport of anionic species. This work is leading to the development of compounds that may be used as tools for the study of transmembrane ion transport processes and may in the future be applied to the treatment of diseases caused by dysregulation of anion transport.
