Society Fellow wins RACI R. H. Stokes Medal

Society Fellow Professor Chuan Zhao FRSN FRSC FRACI of UNSW (Sydney) has recently been awarded the R. H. Stokes Medal of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Electrochemistry Division for distinguished research in electrochemistry.

Professor Zhao is the Head of the Nanoelectrochemistry Lab at UNSW (Sydney) and is a former Professorial Future Fellow of the Australian Research Council. He is a Director in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Green Electrochemical Transformation of Carbon Dioxide, and a Theme Leader in the ARC Training Centre for the Global Hydrogen Economy. His research interests lie in the discovery of novel electrochemical materials and methods for applications in energy and sustainability and he is a pioneer in developing non-precious-metal-based electrocatalysts for green hydrogen technologies, leading to significant commercialisation projects on water electrolysers and fuel cells. He has published more than 300 high-impact research papers and held more than 15 patents of which 10 have been commercialised.

The Council of the Royal Society of NSW extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Zhao on this recognition of his research achievments.
