In this Royal Society of New South Wales lecture from the Hunter Branch, world-renowned clinician/scientist Distinguished Laureate Professor Nick Talley will present his perspective on the progress of the COVID pandemic through a medical journal editor's eyes.
How did this outbreak occur, how is it being managed and what are the prospects for COVID22 and beyond? Is this a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic or a virus we are going to have to live with for evermore?
Professor Nick Talley is widely recognised as one of the most distinguished clinician-scientists of his generation who, among his many other roles, actively leads a research team at the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) specialising in gastroenterology. A past president of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and past Chair of the Council of Presidents of Medical Colleges, Australia, he is the currently Editor-in-Chief of The Medical Journal of Australia. He will provide us with a unique insight into our journey with this devastating virus.
